Why Latte Art Is Harder Than It Looks

Latte art looks like a party trick. It is a skill that takes months.

The first requirement is perfect milk. Steam until the milk doubles in volume. The texture should be glossy, like wet paint. No large bubbles.

The pitcher angle matters. Tilt it and pour high for a fast stream. The milk sinks, the crema stays on top.

Lower the pitcher near the end. Slow the pour. The art comes from the milk interacting with the crema.

The heart is the easiest shape. Pour fast to fill, then slow and lift to finish.

A rosetta requires rocking the pitcher side to side while pouring. Took me months.

Do not be discouraged by your first attempts. Everybody's first hearts look like blobs. Keep pouring.
